Reservations are requests. A booking becomes valid only once DRVN confirms it in writing. Rates, deposits, and terms are finalized at confirmation and captured in your signed rental agreement.
Driver eligibility
Primary renters must be at least 25 years of age and hold a valid, full (non-probationary) driver's licence held for a minimum of 24 months. Younger qualified drivers may be considered case-by-case with an approved young-driver surcharge.
- International renters: a licence in English or an International Driving Permit alongside the original licence.
- Driving records may be reviewed; major infractions may disqualify a driver.
Identification
At pickup, the primary renter presents a valid physical driver's licence and one supporting government-issued photo ID. Names must match the reservation and the payment card exactly.
- Digital or photographed licences are not accepted.
- DRVN may verify identity and driving eligibility before releasing keys.
Payment & security deposit
A physical major credit card in the primary renter's legal name is required. We accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express only. Debit, prepaid, virtual, cash, and third-party cards are not accepted.
- A refundable security deposit is authorized (held) on the card at pickup and released after the vehicle is returned in acceptable condition.
- Payments are processed through a hosted, PCI-compliant provider. DRVN does not store card numbers.
Authorized drivers
Only drivers listed on the rental agreement may operate the vehicle. Each additional driver must meet the same eligibility criteria and present identification in person.
- An additional-driver fee may apply.
- Permitting an unauthorized person to drive voids coverage and breaches the agreement.
Fuel
Vehicles are supplied with a full tank and must be returned full with the matching fuel grade. Vehicles returned under-filled are subject to a refuelling charge plus a service fee at DRVN's posted rate.
Mileage
A daily distance allowance is included with each rental and stated at confirmation. Additional distance is billed at a per-kilometre rate. Extended-distance and one-way arrangements can be quoted on request.
Prohibited use
To protect our vehicles and your safety, the following are not permitted:
- Racing, track use, off-road use beyond maintained roads, or towing.
- Driving under the influence of alcohol, cannabis, or any impairing substance.
- Transporting hazardous materials, or use for any unlawful purpose.
- Subletting, rideshare, or commercial livery without prior written consent.
Smoking & pets
All DRVN vehicles are strictly smoke- and vapour-free. Evidence of smoking incurs a remediation fee. Pets are permitted only when secured in an appropriate carrier; the vehicle must be returned free of hair and debris.
Damage & incidents
The renter is responsible for damage, loss, or theft during the rental period, subject to any coverage selected. Report incidents to DRVN and, where required, local authorities immediately.
- Complete the Accident Report and Vehicle Check-In / Check-Out Report as applicable.
- Diminished-value and administrative fees may apply to at-fault damage.
Late return
Please return the vehicle at the agreed time and location. A grace period may apply; beyond it, additional hourly or full-day charges accrue. Extensions must be approved by DRVN in advance to keep coverage valid.
Cleaning
Vehicles are delivered fully detailed and should be returned in reasonably clean condition. Excessive interior soiling, stains, or odours that require deep cleaning are billed at DRVN's posted cleaning rate.
Cancellations & changes
Since reservations are requests, no charge applies until DRVN confirms your booking. Once confirmed:
- Cancellations 48+ hours before pickup: no cancellation fee.
- Under 48 hours: a cancellation fee equal to one day's rate may apply.
- Date and vehicle changes are accommodated subject to availability.
Geographic restrictions
Vehicles may be driven throughout British Columbia and within Canada by default. Travel outside British Columbia, or into the United States, requires prior written approval and appropriate cross-border documentation and coverage.
- Travel outside Canada without written consent is prohibited.
- Ferry, seasonal, and mountain-road use should be disclosed in advance.
The full terms governing your rental are set out in the Rental Agreement. Have a question first? Read our FAQ or get in touch.
